How to help

Support for the victim

Safe intervention and call for help

Recognizing violence (including hidden)

Recognize signs of violence. React calmly and safely. Support the victims in a way that does not increase the risk โ€” for them and for yourself.

Who is this training for?

For those who want to be able to respond to violence and dangerous situations at home, school, work, and in public spaces โ€” with respect for safety, boundaries, and the law. We particularly recommend it to those working with children and youth, as well as anyone who wants to better understand the mechanisms of violence and effectively support victims.

  • teachers, educators, guardians, staff of institutions

  • parents and caregivers

  • employees of companies and institutions (HR, administration, security)

  • social activists and volunteers

  • anyone who wants to learn how to help wisely and safely

What will you learn in the training?

  • Recognize violence โ€“ physical and psychological, including the 'silent' types: manipulation, intimidation, isolation, mocking, and violating boundaries.

  • Notice warning signals โ€“ behaviors and messages that may indicate a threat.

  • React safely โ€“ what to do on-site and what not to do to avoid escalating the situation.

  • Call for the right help โ€“ when and how to contact services and institutions.

  • Talk to the victim โ€“ with empathy, without judgment, without pressure.

  • Support and guide further โ€“ how to help find support and not be left alone with it.

The training teaches conscious observation of the surroundings to promptly identify potentially dangerous situations. Participants learn the basic rules of responding โ€” from safely providing support, to calling the appropriate services, and ways to communicate with the victim. An important element is learning empathy and understanding the emotions of victims of violence, who often feel isolated or blame themselves for what has happened to them.

The goal of the training is to build a sense of social responsibility. Participants acquire skills that allow them to respond calmly and appropriately to the situation and support individuals experiencing violence in a way that gives them a sense of safety and understanding.

The training focuses on recognizing and responding to various forms of violence that we may encounter in everyday life and in public spaces. The program covers physical violence, psychological violence, and the phenomenon of peer violence, which particularly affects children and adolescents. Participants learn to notice subtle signals of danger, understand the mechanisms of aggressive behavior, and respond appropriately in situations that require support or intervention.

During the training, real examples of violence that may occur at home, at work, in school, on the street, or on the road are discussed. Participants learn how to recognize not only obvious acts of aggression but also those that are hidden and often trivializedโ€”such as manipulation, intimidation, isolation, mockery, or violating personal boundaries. We place particular emphasis on the fact that psychological violence can be just as painful as physical violence, although it is often harder to detect.
